  • Tackle your laundry on a weekly basis and leave the habit of putting it off to avoid creating mountains of clothes.
  • Sorting is important, before you start washing the clothes. The first sorting should be according to the color i.e. light and dark. This is helpful in avoiding the notorious pink socks syndrome and should be always done.
  • It is better to pre-treat the clothes for stains such as spaghetti or stains. Use a pre-treatment stick or solution, an enzymatic pre wash, liquid detergent. Make sure that the solution saturates the stain. Rub the solution or the pre-treatment thoroughly in the cloth and leave it for a few minutes. Follow the instructions on the product label.
  • Take care while loading your machine, do not overfill the machine. Overfilling leads to damage to the machine and your clothes also remain unclean. The clothes should be allowed to move freely around the agitator and the wash tub for proper cleaning.
  • Cold water should be used to wash colored clothes especially those clothes that have tendency to run or fade. Whites & light colored clothes can be washed in slightly warm water. Use your judgment while washing dirtier clothes and fix the time duration accordingly.
  • Use the detergent wisely and follow the instructions on the pack. Color bleach should be used to perk up colors and to add more whiteness to your whites. But caution is advised while using regular bleach as it tends to breakdown cloth fibers and causes damage to the fabric. Fabric softeners should be used to make your clothes soft and reducing static cling.
  • Once the clothes are washed, remove the clothes from the machine and dry them by using the dryer. You can reduce the drying time if you shake each piece of cloth before putting it into the dryer.
