Make Light Work of Cleaning Your Home with 10 Simple ips

Sloane Cleaning Services is a London-based office cleaning company providing fully-trained office cleaners across London.  Making use of a London office cleaning service is often essential in making sure your business creates a winning first impression on clients and business partners.

But when it comes to our homes, most of us must tackle the work ourselves and if we have little skill or inclination towards the vacuuming and dusting, this can be a chore.  Most of us would prefer to spend less time cleaning, and more time enjoying the spring weather.  So are there any simple tricks and techniques that can help us to make light work of our spring cleaning?  Here Sloane Cleaning Services use their office cleaning experience to give us 10 simple tips.

1. De-clutter: a tidy home is not only much easier to clean, it also looks better.  Spend just 15 minutes a day throwing out rubbish, bagging up unwanted items to take to the charity shop, and putting the rest of your stuff where it belongs.

2. Wash up as you go: there’s nothing more depressing than waking up to a kitchen full of dirty dishes.  Wash up as you go along and you make the job easier as the food doesn’t dry and harden.  Fill the sink full of hot soapy water and put used items straight into it.

3. Wipe round the bathroom every morning: much of the dirt and limescale that builds up around the bathroom is simply caused by moisture lying around on the surfaces.  Open a window while showering, and quickly wipe down the surfaces after you’ve finished.  This only takes a few minutes and your bathroom will look good at all times.

4. Regular routines – whether you prefer to spend 15 minutes a day cleaning, or save it all for a regular 2 hour weekly blitz, the key is to make cleaning such a normal part of your routine that you hardly even notice you’ve had to do it!

5. Be organised – many of us put off cleaning for as long as possible and then rush round the house in a panic, not knowing what to do first.  It’s much easier to work to a plan.  There are two ways to do this: room by room, or task by task.  The key to either method is not to get distracted.  If you’re cleaning the living room, don’t leave off and start sweeping the kitchen floor just because you’ve gone in there to get a duster.  If you’re vacuuming and spot a dusty surface, resist the temptation and stick to the task in hand.

6. Keep on top of the laundry – avoid getting stuck with an over-flowing laundry basket and no clean clothes for work the next day!  Keep on top of things by simply spending 10 minutes each morning and evening.  If you do one load a day during the week, you won’t have to do any at the weekend!

7. If you’re a beginner, start off small, and congratulate yourself for your achievements, such as keeping your kitchen free of dirty dishes for a whole week.

8. Faced with visitors arriving in an hour and a dirty house? Don’t panic, it’s amazing what you can achieve in a short time.  Focus on the quick wins: put away clutter, dirty dishes, throw out the rubbish and recycling, and if you’ve still got time to spare vacuum downstairs, and swish round the bathroom surfaces.  Finally, throw open the windows to let some fresh air through the house.

9. The timer – if you’re faced with a task you really don’t even want to start on, break it down into small chunks using a timer set for 15 minutes.

10. Make it fun!  Try playing some dance music while you dust and vacuum, and bop away some extra calories while you’re at it!
